Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. When her father's divorce from the family, she was brought up by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. While she was a small girl, Catherine Ford struggled with an obsessional disorder and suffered from anxiety because of the word"association. Ford began acting during her teens and became an actor in the National Youth Theatre. After being accepted at the Sylvia Young Theatre School for brief time but Ford realized this was not the best place for her. Ford rather applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama and was able to secure the position on her 4th attempt. A classmate of hers included Shaun Dingwall, who would play a part in the role of Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford's debut on TV was the 1991 episode Surgical Spirit. By the moment she was done with school, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate first appeared on television in the year 1991, appearing on television shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. Tate's regular involvement in the theatre brought her into the Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 season. Tate began to gain attention for her stand up comedy in the year 1996.
